Kwerfeldein is a website for photo-journalism and photographers. In about nine years of existence, it has drawn a large number of supporters: 10.000 daily readers, 6000 archive articles. In February 2015, the editors asked for support from their readers via Paypal Payments or Subscriptions.
Kwerfeld is representative of an increasing amount of online communities centered around journalism which ask for direct contributions from their readers, without erecting paywalls around their contents.
